I'm bored and I smile over at you,
you with your cool hands high. You're dancing
around and around to the music I can't hear.
Your eyes are closed and your mouth is open,
fangs gleaming in the sun.

I'll read a book and you'll watch me from
the corner of your eye, you, with all your life.
And me with mine.

I don't join you; or you I. You dance
'til you get bored, then you fall back to the
Earth and me, arms stretched and stretching.
You look over at me with fire, hair, in your
eyes. "Best song ever," you say.

"Best book ever," I lie.

You snort, and turn over, green all over.
"You lie."

I shrug. "Yeah," I admit, with a smile.

"I'm bored," you sigh.
We sit there in silence for seconds and minutes,
which soon become hours and days. There's life
in your eyes.

Hands up to the sky.
